Kanye West. Do we need another introduction? If you don't know him from hits like Gold Digger or Jesus Walks, you surely heard of him and his rants ranging from the infamous, "George Bush doesn't care about Black people!" to his cries over not winning the Grammy he thought he deserved. Kanye West is the rare balance of scandal and talent. Just when you are ready to boycott everything he stands for, he supplies the radio with something so original and great that you forget you ever hated him. It's a bittersweet relationship Kanye and the public have. And coincidentally, his recently leaked album cut Bittersweet Poetry is just the right song to get the public's heart back on his side. Drenched in honesty, Kanye West is at his most endearing and subsequently at his best. Leaving all the braggadocio at the door, Kanye is spilling his real-life relationship problems on wax. The beat and the classic-Kanye West soul sample tip-toe around Kanye's sensitive lyrics. John Mayer also accompanies the track with his soft vocals, while, later on the track, Keyshia Cole ad-libs mixes in her signature street-soul style , literally making the song cry, in the best way possible. Kanye West raps, "This the first time she ever spilled her soul to me." And this is the first time Kanye West has spilled his soul to the public in such a raw fashion. Bittersweet poetry, indeed, Mr. West.
