Alfamega is on deck for the burgeoning Grand Hustle dynasty. How well he fares next to T.I. and Young Dro is yet to be determined. But his press release does entice one to find out: "Your favorite book, whether it is a classic novel or a modern-day bestseller, only has two guarantees when it's all said and done—a beginning and an ending. Of course the reading experience would be bland if those were the only highlights. It's the chapters in between them that supply the color, twists, turns and climax that make them interesting. So even though Grand Hustle recording artist Alfamega's name may suggest that he is simply a be all end all, you'd be foolish to think that his life's story or his debut album I Am Alfamega is a flat line." Oh really?

Shiznit: The (Female) Workout Plan Print E-mail

Editor's note: Working out is essential to a healthy life. And it's no secret that music is a gives a good boost on those days one feels like slacking. Instead of giving my playlist of songs that'd pump me up on my workout, I chose to get a female perspective on this. I asked some of my (lady) friends why they listen to music when they workout and a lady acquaintance, Fire, provided her playlist: 15 of the songs she worked out too in one session.

What they said
The reasons for listening to music are numerous. I asked a few of my friends for theirs and I got similar answers. They are not necessarily a reflection of women in the gym accross the world, but I'd bet most would concur. Here are some of the top reasons they listen to music:

  • To avoid the guys that choose the gym to exercise their pickup lines.
  • To savor their favorite music. (Something they might not be able to do in their busy schedule.)
  • To get pumped up before and during the workout
  • To avoid boredom and fight the notion time elapsing (too) slowly

The Shiznit (comments by Fire)

  • 2Pac - No More Pain
Something about Pac & DeVante together is pure dee adrenalistic perfection...I love this song & the way it makes me feel.
  • 50 Cent - I'm Supposed To Die Tonight
    Menace to society.
  • Freeway - Flipside (feat. Peedi Crakk)
Something about the Philadelphia Freeway album hypes me the fuck up. This song is one of the gems contained therein...I love Free's voice.
  • Killer Mike - A.D.I.D.A.S. (feat. Big Boi)
    Need I even say anything?
  • OutKast - B.O.B.
This is one of the most amp-lifying songs on earth...It gets me so crunk it's not funny...Pure aural adrenaline!
  • OutKast - Skew It On The Bar-B (feat. Raekwon)
    Dungeon Family owns me!
  • N.E.R.D. - Lapdance (feat. Lee Harvey & Vita)
This song moves! It's so real, how i feel! I love it for working out.
  • P$C - I'm A King (feat. T.I. & Lil Scrappy)
Although it's slow it gets me going. I love T.I.
  • Public Enemy - Rebel Without A Pause
The Bomb Squad makes me feel like i'm gonna kill someone...In this instance myself while working out.
  • Raekwon - Ice Cream (feat. Ghostface Killah, Method Man & Cappadonna)
Sexy ass song for a sexy ass mama.

The Bonuses (comments by Fire)

  • Aaliyah - Loose Rap
This is my girl. She's so refreshing. Any of her mid to uptempos keeps me focused & moving
  • Brandy - Full Moon
Kinda slow but it motivates me...I think it's the melody.
  • Janet Jackson - Velvet Rope (feat. Vanessa Mae)
I don't even have to explain this one... Jimmy & Terry have some of the best uptempos of all time. Then that noise that is in this song makes me feel like I'm rocketing thru outer space
  • Michael Jackson - Bad
That song really makes me feel that way...Invincible.
  • Prince & The Revolution - Let's Go Crazy
My favorite artist ever...I don't even need to explain this.
