Remember when hip-hop was considered to be the voice of the downtrodden who dwell in the slums and crevices of America? Who would've thought that this profound statement would not only relate to the conditions faced in the United States, but perhaps the world. The Colombian born emcee, Soarse Spoken is no stranger to these matters as
he paints candid pictures about both his struggles in his native land and the United States in his latest album, Third World Prophecies. Check him out as he talks more about his new album, his life as an immigrant, and Botanica del Jibaro, one of the best record labels you've probably never heard of. |

Brother There: The Ras_G Interview |

Editor's Note:
If you're like me, then you've never heard of this Ras_G guy before. (Pundits and fans in the know, I'll assume that you'll rejoice the boy is getting a little bit more exposure. Yes? No?) Lucky me, I have Andres to feed me with some knowledge about the left coast. Lucky you, you get to read about it. Ras_G, you're about to find out, is another contributor to the significantly varied (yet underheard) L.A. scene. He sits on the beat music branch these days, having paid his dues as a DJ for legendary spots like Project Blowed (oh, at least I know about that place!). We got pics, clips and links. What more could you ask for?

I’m pretty sure that most people will agree with me when they say that today’s music is quite robotic and gimmick-driven. There are very few artists that are willing to take a step into their own creative lanes and bring something new to the forefront. Georgia Anne Muldrow and Dudley Perkins have been taking these chances for quite some time and I was fortunate enough to interview them. When notified about this opportunity, I kind of figured where this interview would go. Apparently I was wrong when Dudley found out I write for another certain website that hasn’t shown much respect for his past releases. Read on as they discuss their label situations, their latest release as G&D, The Message Uni Versa, and Dudley’s response to his critics. |
